Leaf tip burn on Oriental
lilies
Roberto Lopez, Department of Horticulture & Landscape
Architecture, Purdue University
A general problem associated with Oriental lilies
is calcium deficiency.
Leaf symptoms include necrosis of leaf tips and foliar distortion.
It is
important to confirm this problem by submitting leaves to a reputable
lab
for a foliar nutrient analysis. You may read more about this problem

burn on Oriental lilies
Work by Dr. William Miller and Alex Chang at Cornell
University has
shown that a very effective means of preventing upper leaf necrosis
is
to blow air down onto the plant. Sufficient airflow to cause the
upper
leaves to gently move is enough. This leaf movement helps the young
leaves draw water (and calcium) into them, and thereby reduces
the
problem. |
